LaTrax 1/18 Teton Troubleshooting
- Clicking sound and wheels don't turn (Steering)
- The servo gear may be stripped. Open up the servo by unscrewing the 4 screws on the bottom of the servo case. Then, pop off the top of the servo and check out the gears inside. If it's determine that there's a stripped gear, rebuild the servo with a replacement servo gear set (Part No. TRX2064).
- Steering works, but there's no throttle
- Battery pack is not properly charged.
- Charge onboard battery completely.
- ESC (electronic speed control) requires programming or replacement.
- Your LaTrax electronic speed control may require periodic programming to maintain optimal performance. If your vehicle stops responding to throttle input, if you would like to change to a different mode, you will need to go through the programming steps below.
- ESC Setup Programming (Calibrating your ESC and transmitter). Read through all of the programming steps before you begin. If you get lost during programming or receive unexpected results, simply unplug the battery, wait a few seconds, plug the battery back in, and start over.
- Connect a fully charged battery pack to the ESC.
- Turn on the transmitter (with the throttle at neutral).
- Press and hold the EZ-Set button (A). The LED will first turn green and then red. Release the EZ-Set button.
- When the LED blinks RED ONCE, pull the throttle trigger to the full throttle position and hold it there (B).
- When the LED blinks RED TWICE, push the throttle trigger to the full reverse and hold it there (C).
- When the LED blinks GREEN ONCE, programming is complete. The LED will then shine red.
- Battery pack is not properly charged.
- Steering goes in the opposite direction when the wheel of the transmitter is turned
- Steering reversing procedure:
- Press and hold the SET button on the transmitter for two seconds. The status LED will flash green.
- Turn and hold the steering wheel to the full left or full right position (it does not matter which position you choose).
- While holding the steering wheel in position, press the SET button to reverse the channel.
- The channel is now reversed. Confirm correct servo operation before running your model.
- Steering reversing procedure:
- Dirty or damaged motor
- The motor has strong magnets that can pick small pieces of metal. Staples, washers, screws and other debris can be easily sucked up through one of the motor's cooling vents, which can prevent the armature from spinning. Remove the motor from the vehicle and try to spin the pinion gear. If the pinion gear will not move, inspect the motor for small particles inside the motor can. Spray electric motor cleaner into the motor to remove dirt and debris and re-oil the bushings with a quality bushing oil. If a thorough cleaning doesn't work, replace the motor.
